In 2021, the State of Florida passed a new law stating that no local permitting or licensing is required to establish a home-based business in Florida. Any home-based businesses in Alachua County may proceed without a permit provided the requirements of the law are met with regard to the impacts related to the business per Florida Statute section 559.955. Alachua County also requires no business tax licensing for the unincorporated areas. If your home is located in one of the municipalities in Alachua County, contact them directly to determine whether your city has a local business tax requirement.
